Christmas Eve! The kids are really excited this year. Nicholai and Emma of course understand exactly what’s going on, and now Jericho does too. It’s so much fun- I hope Nicholai still believes in Santa for a few more years because I’d love to have one year with all four of them this happy and excited.
Actually, Jericho’s been so funny today. He was watching ABC kids, and all the shows had their Christmas themed episodes, so that got him all hyped up. He kept running out to where Troy and I were and wriggling about joyfully as he would tell us something else about Santa, and what he wanted for presents. Apparently he thinks Santa is going to deliver him “a blue bunny and a spaceship!”…hopefully the bike Santa IS bringing him will eliminate any disappointment about the spaceship he’s NOT getting!
Nicholai and Emma went to the holiday program today, which was the most helpful thing they could have done- having them out of the way made it much easier for Troy and I to do a good clean up around the house. Troy actually managed to reach the bottom of that pile of crap (newsletters, bills, forms, letters, pamphlets, brochures etc) that builds up on the bench, we threw out tons of loose sheets of paper that seem to end up all over the place and put all the kids junk away in their rooms.
I also sorted through a box of girl clothes that I’m going to give to my sister for her baby on Saturday- these were things that have been packed away since Emma was a baby, waiting for another girl baby to come along and wear them! I was not as sentimental about doing it as I’d thought I might be. There were a couple of outfits that I can’t give away, but that’s just because they were Emma’s and they’re too sentimental for me to let go.
I fixed three pairs of jeans for Soren too, so he finally has some long pants. With the way the weather has turned this evening, I think he’s going to need them tomorrow.
I’m excited for tomorrow- I just want to watch the kids come in to the living room tomorrow to find that Santa has been for them! I am so glad that Soren is here to celebrate this year, and we get to be a family of six.
I’m going to go and make some dessert and do the dishes while I wait for the kids to all go to sleep. Emma and Soren are snoring peacefully, Nicholai is at least quiet (which must mean he’s exhausted) but Jericho is lying on his bed walking his feet along the desk beside it and singing to himself- so two down and two to go, but at least one of those is showing no signs of sleepiness, despite it being already nearly an hour and a half after his usual bedtime! Oh well…merry Christmas to all!
